Significance of Flaws In Performance Of Engineering Components

Date: July ,Sat 2021 Time: 19:30 - 20:30
Mr. B. K. Shah

Shri B.K. Shah has done B.Sc. Engg. (Metallurgy) from RIT Jamshedpur and M. Tech. (Corrosion Sc. & Engg.) from IIT Bombay . He joined BARC in 1973 and retired as Head, Quality Assurance Division in 2011. He has been Outstanding Scientist and Raja Ramanna Fellow of the Department of Atomic Energy.

There is no engineering structure, which is completely free from flaws. Flaw characterisation includes Type, Location, Size, Shape & Orientation of flaws. Significance or severity of flaw depends not only on its characteristics but also on the properties of material in which the flaw is embedded as well as the stress to which it is subjected. In this presentation, an attempt is made to provide
